LIVE HEALTHY BERMUDA ANNOUNCES THE 2010 100 DAY CHALLENGE

(Hamilton, Bermuda ? Dec 10th).

As the Christmas Season enters its final weeks Live Healthy Bermuda, a registered Bermuda charity, launches its trademarked event for 2010 the 100 Day Challenge which will run from January 14, 2010 through April 23, 2010.  At a cost of just $25.00 per person the charity whose mission is to increase the awareness and importance of fitness and health in the Bermuda community, is encouraging individuals to do something for themselves, their family and their colleagues.

Live Healthy Bermuda?s sole aim is to raise awareness, educate and empower people by providing tools and incentives.   All funds raised are used to support programmes.   Live Healthy Bermuda?s 100 Day Challenge should not to be confused with and is not associated with the local reality ?for profit? TV weight loss show of the same name.

The Live Healthy Bermuda 100 Day Challenge is a team-based weight loss and physical activity programme that helps individuals and teammates make positive changes that lead to a healthier lifestyle through increased physical activity and improved nutrition.  Friends, family members and co-workers form teams that track weight loss and/or minutes of activity during the 100 Day Challenge.  Team members report their progress on a weekly basis through the Live Healthy Bermuda website, www.livehealthybermuda.org    Live Healthy Bermuda is a part of the national program in the US, Live Healthy America.  The programme is based on an honour system, and seeks to incorporate real lifestyle changes into your daily routine.

Over the past two years, the Challenge has seen more than 3,000 participants representing hundreds of teams.  ?The composition of the teams has ranged from two friends who wanted to help each other get fit to a family of five to a corporate department of 10 individuals where the company has incorporated the Challenge into their Wellness Programme.  In all cases, the teams are able to personalize their website with their team name and logo and view their progress on a leader board that is updated each week.  It is a fun way to get fit and generate a lot of friendly competition?.

?Bermuda?s success has been fantastic?, says Troy Vincent, Director, Live Healthy America.  ?We continue to be impressed by the support and enthusiasm demonstrated in Bermuda and we share your story whenever we give presentations in the US?.

The 100 Day Challenge is a perfect platform for any type of training as it allows you to track your progress on line while providing weekly tips to assist you in achieving your goal.  ?Whether your goal is to lose weight, get into shape after letting yourself go for too long, or train for a big race, we have found the team based approach extremely effective.  It?s tough to skip a workout or eat that extra helping of dessert when you know you have team members counting on you?.

Live Healthy Bermuda provides each participant with a Live Healthy Bermuda training t-shirt, chances to win incentive prizes throughout the challenge, weekly activity, nutrition, and recipe tips via email, a personal online tracking page, and access to the Islands? Team Leader Board.  In addition, participants will have access to Fitness Magazine?s Resource Center as well as ?Training Peaks?, an online training and nutrition software.

The Live Healthy Bermuda website www.livehealthybermuda.org is now available and teams can start signing up on December 15th.  So, make your New Year?s resolution early.  Treat yourself or your team to a unique Christmas present.

?We will also be launching the 2010 Live Healthy Kids Programme in late February? said Sarah Burrows, Vice President of the organization.  ?Last year we saw over 1,000 children participate in our initial programme and the response was superb. With the increase and overwhelming concern about child obesity this vital component is critical to the well being of our youth and we are encouraging parents and guardians to become involved.?
